Art should move the viewer. Beyond what we see and what we know, it’s what lies beyond – in that magical, atemporal plane – that sparks our imagination. This imaginative space is where my art is born.
Women in Portraiture
Inspired by the art historical canon, and particularly the often restrictive ways in which women and objects are depicted therein, I aim to challenge how we confront the real versus the ideal – with a touch of whimsy.
Each object, body, and animal has purpose. Through portraiture, symbolism, and unexpected juxtapositions, I reconsider familiar images and invite the viewer to look again.
Abstractions
Using color theory and the tenets of Expressionism, Dada, and Abstract Expressionism, I explore different ways of viewing the world – and art itself.
Through color, form, texture, and movement, I create abstract works that leave room for interpretation and invite the viewer beyond what is immediately recognizable.
